The Oceana County Clerk's Office is a designated Passport Application Acceptance Facility. We will process your passport/passport card application and forward it to Passport Services for an issuance determination. Only Passport Services can make that determination. We cannot.
Customers may check the status of their pending passport applications by calling the National Passport Information Center at 1-877-487-2778.

REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY FOR A NEW PASSPORT/PASSPORT CARD
The application must be presented in person to the County Clerk's Office.
Proof of Citizenship:
NOTE: The birth certificate will be returned with the processed passport. Due to new processing procedures, the passport and supporting documents may be returned to you in separate envelopes.
Identification:
- All persons ages 16 years of age or older must present a valid driver's license or state issued identification card at time of application. If the applicant is unable to produce identification, a parent listed on the child's birth certificate may accompany the applicant and present their valid identification. For security reasons, parental consent may be requested even if the person applying shows valid identification.
- Effective February 1, 2008, children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by both parents listed on the child's birth record. Both parents must present a valid driver's license or state issued identification card at time of application. If only one parent is available, a written (original) statement by the absent parent giving permission for the child's passport is required at time of application. Photographs:
- Two duplicate photographs are required.
- Photographs must meet Passport Services requirements.
- Photographs must have a white/off-white background.
- Photographs must be taken within 6 months of application.
Fees:
- Passport/passport card fees are payable to "U.S. Department of State" and MUST BE PAID BY CHECK OR MONEY ORDER.
- $110.00 (Effective 7/13/10) - for persons ages 16 and older (10- year passport)
- $80.00 (Effective 7/13/10) - for persons ages 15 and younger (5-year passport)
- $30.00 - for persons ages 16 and older (10-year passport card)
- $15.00 - for persons ages 15 and younger (5-year passport card)
- Processing fee of $25.00 to the Oceana County Clerk - cash, check, or money orders are accepted.
Note: We ask that separate checks be written for each fee. One check goes with the passport application and the other goes to the Clerk's office.
**ROUTINE PROCESSING TIME IS 4-6 WEEKS. PASSPORTS MAY BE EXPEDITED IF NECESSARY.
Expedited Service:
- Cost, in addition to regular application fees, is $60 per application plus overnight delivery costs.
- Two-way overnight delivery is strongly suggested.
- If you mail in-clearly mark Expedited on the envelope.
**Anyone may request expedited service for any type of application (e.g., first-time applications, renewals, amendments of existing passports, etc.)
Passport applications sent together or at the same time do not necessarily remain together. A separate overnight return envelope is required for each passport.
In-person application is permitted for customers with proof of urgent departure dates scheduled within. An appointment must be schedule prior to arrival. Contact the Chicago Passport Agency at (312) 341-6020 to schedule an appointment.
REQUIREMENTS TO RENEW A PASSPORT BY MAIL
In order to renew a passport by mail you must:
- Already have a passport that is not damaged; and
- Have received it within the past 15 years; and
- Have been at least age 16 when it was issued; and
- Still have the same name as in passport (or you can legally document your name change).
You must attach the following to the renewal application:
- Your most recent passport
- Two identical passport photographs
- And, a $110 fee payable to the U.S. Department of State
Note: Your previous passport will be returned to you with your new passport. |
